The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is a full-size all-electric pickup. Equally at home in the city, at a job site, or exploring the great outdoors, it has the power, range, and performance to do what you need. We’re going to examine some exciting tech features.
Powerful Batteries
The Silverado EV features dual electric motors, with one motor connected to the front axle and the other to the rear axle. This motor setup provides 4WD capability and is powered by GM’s innovative Ultium battery technology. Ultium batteries are made of nickel, cobalt, manganese, and aluminum (NCMA) and use 70% less cobalt than other batteries, making them more sustainable.
The Ultium design is based on individual pouches that are vertically and horizontally stackable. Their modular design makes it easier to increase battery capacity by adding additional pouches. The Silverado is standard with a 20-module Extended Range battery that supplies 645 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque, with a range of 422 miles. The RS trim offers a 24-module Max Range battery, supplying 760 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque, and a range of 460 miles.
PowerBase
PowerBase is an available feature included in the LT Premium Package and the RST Premium II Package, enabling your Silverado EV to act as a generator for external equipment. Six 120-volt AC outlets are installed, with one in the cabin, one in the eTrunk, and four in the truck bed. The truck bed also includes a 240-volt AC outlet.
When your vehicle is on, select the PowerBase app on the infotainment screen, and you can adjust the power supply settings. A timer is available to control how long the outlets can draw power, but you can disable this if you want to. You can also set a range reserve, which keeps part of the available battery power available for driving. PowerBase can supply up to 10.2 kW of electricity.
Sidewinder Mode
This available driving mode takes maneuverability to the next level. It enables the rear wheels to move at the same angle as the front wheels so your vehicle can move diagonally. It’s not only very cool to watch, but it also allows you to navigate tight off-road trails and park easily in difficult-to-access parking spaces.
You access this mode through the touchscreen by selecting Controls, then Rear Steering. Press the Sidewinder and you’re treated to a view of a sidewinder snake moving through the sand. Once that screen disappears, you’re ready to move diagonally. This mode works at a speed of 20 mph or less. To deactivate, turn it off through the touchscreen or accelerate over 20 mph.
